FAMILY OUTDOORS FIELD GUIDE
Keep the first trips simple, comfortable, and fun enough that they ask to go again.

Adults often measure fishing by the fish. Kids usually measure it by the entire day. Snacks, rocks, bugs, casting, wading, weather, and whether anyone is frustrated can matter more than the catch.
Pick water with safe access and a realistic chance of action.
One rod, a small tackle box, water, snacks, and weather layers are enough.
If they want to skip rocks for ten minutes, let them. The goal is building positive time outside.
Leaving while they still want another cast is a win.
