HUNTING FIELD GUIDE
Turn a huge western hillside into smaller pieces you can search methodically.

Good glassing is a system. Pick a stable position, get comfortable and break the country into manageable sections instead of constantly sweeping the entire mountain.
Check shade, benches, broken timber edges, brush pockets and terrain transitions first.
Use landmarks to divide the slope. Scan one section slowly, overlap the next pass and look for pieces of a deer—an ear, antler tine, leg or horizontal back line.
A move of a few hundred yards can reveal folds and pockets hidden from the first location.
